Scan-to-BIM describes the path from capture to structured model. Five steps: capture, register, georeference, model, verify.
The capture produces the point cloud. Registration merges the individual stations. Georeferencing places the point cloud correctly in the national coordinate system. Modelling interprets the geometry and builds components to an agreed structure. Verification compares the model against the point cloud and documents every deviation.
The decisive step comes before all five: defining the level of information need. Without a LOIN, every provider delivers something different and bids become incomparable.
