As-is capture
The metrological survey of an existing building in its current condition.
As-is capture describes the metrological survey of an existing building in its current condition. It is the starting point of any design work in existing buildings.
The difference from new-build design is fundamental. In a new build the building follows the drawing. In an existing building the drawing follows the building, specifically the building as it stands today rather than as it was built.
For many assets, decades of refits sit between the built condition and the documentation. Exactly in that gap, variations, delays and design errors arise.
Modern as-is capture works contact-free and during operation. Up to 37,000 m² in one day, without pausing production, trading or hospital operations.
