LOG

Level of geometry: how detailed a component is represented geometrically.

LOG stands for level of geometry and describes how detailed a component is represented geometrically. It is the geometric part of the level of information need.

A wall can be modelled as a simple solid with length, height and thickness. It can also be represented with every layer, insulation, render build-up and opening detail. Both are the same wall, with very different effort.

The LOG is defined per component group. Load-bearing structure often needs more detail than a suspended ceiling. For plant the use case decides: clash detection needs envelope geometry, maintenance needs access points and connections.
