from scan to finished mesh
TGW Mechanics GmbH is one of the leading manufacturers in intralogistics. Greenfield projects are getting rarer, retrofit projects in existing buildings more frequent.
Many high-bay warehouses and logistics systems have no current data on their infrastructure. For retrofit planning, that is a risk.
qapture captures the sites with mobile laser scanners and total stations and hands the data straight to TGW, where it feeds into planning, including digital factory layouting.
One example: the logistics centre of an online retailer in Bavaria. A 15,000 m² dispatch centre was surveyed and scanned in two working days without interrupting operations. The point cloud became a 3D mesh for clash checks between existing and planned infrastructure.
A year later a second dispatch centre of around 20,000 m² followed with the same method, captured in a single day.
Retrofit projects start from the real as-is condition. Fewer planning errors, more targeted use of resources.
The digital twin stays in use months after project completion, as a reference for internal planning and for developing the logistics areas further.
