Documented construction sequence, deviations captured at intervals
  • Interval

instead of spot checks at handover

Starting point

In a data centre tolerance is tight. Cooling, power and network run in redundant paths that must not touch.

A deviation only noticed at handover costs a multiple of what its correction would have cost during the shell phase.

Objective

  • Continuously verify the construction state against the model.
  • Name deviations while they are still cheap to correct.

Approach

BIM field control ran at short intervals across the entire construction phase. Capture with mobile mapping, evaluation against the coordination model.

Every deviation was recorded with location, dimension and ownership, and reported via BCF into the respective consultant’s tool.

At the end there was an as-built model carrying the built condition.

What came of it

The construction sequence is documented.

Deviations were captured at intervals before they became variations.
